The Philadelphia Union and Chick-fil-A announced a new partnership on Thursday afternoon, revealing the new “Corner Kicken for Chicken” program through the 2027 MLS season. Based on Philly’s offensive success, the program is designed to bring free chicken nuggets to Philly-area residents. Philadelphia is off to a perfect 3-0-0 start in the 2025 season under new head coach Bradley Carnell.

The local owner-operator of a pair of Chick-fil-A establishments, Sam Class, is excited about the partnership that will bring more fans to the restaurants. “We look forward to rewarding fans with complimentary Nuggets and cheering on The Union together,” Class told the team’s website.

Philadelphia Sports Fans Have Received 1 Million Chicken Nuggets for Free since 2023

The newest partnership is not Chick-fil-A’s first partnership deal with a Philly sports team. The first food chain has given away nearly 500,000 free nuggets this season from its “Bricken for Chicken” partnership with the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers. The program awards five Chick-fil-A nuggets when an opposing player misses two free throws in the second half of a home game. The free-nugget count increases to eight nuggets if the situation occurs a second time and a 12-piece nugget with a third empty trip to the free-throw line.

Nine program activations occurred during the 2024-25 season, including two “mid-tier” rewards of eight nuggets – the Sixers home-opening loss against the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 23 and a Jan. 15 defeat to the New York Knicks. During the 2023-24 season, the partnership yielded almost a million free chicken nuggets with a final count of 943,983.

Philly Among the World’s Best in Set Play Goals Last Year

Union fans have reason to be excited about the new collaboration with Chick-fil-A. Philadelphia features one of the world’s best squads in generating goals from set pieces. Not MLS-best, nor CONCACAF-best… YOUR Philadelphia Union is among the best in the football universe in scoring from set pieces.

Last season, Philadelphia was among the best in the world, scoring goals from set plays.  According to the Creative Set Plays, Philadelphia ranked fourth globally in set play expected goals (xG) per 90 minutes, with 0.47 xG/90 in 2024. That ranking places ahead of soccer giants such as Arsenal (0.46 xG/90) and Inter Milan (0.45).

Specifically from corner kicks, the Union nearly doubled the MLS average (0.17) for goals from corner kicks with a 0.32 goal-scoring rate. If Philly continues last year’s trend of excellence from the set play near the corner flag, participating Chick-fil-A locations around Philadelphia might give away a lot of free chicken nuggets in 2025.

This season, the Union averaged 6.5 corners per contest through three matches, including seven corner kicks in their home-opening 4-1 win against Cincinnati FC at Subaru Park on March 1. In their most recent victory, a 2-0 road shutout of New England, both Philadelphia goals were direct results of set pieces. A corner kick led to a bouncing ball and an own goal credited to Cincinnati defender Ilay Feingold for a 1-0 Union lead. In stoppage time, Jovan Lukic’s insurance goal started from a free play.

Claim Reward Offer via the Chick-fil-A App

The new promotion presented by Greater Philadelphia Chick-fil-A locations “rewards fans with an offer for free 5-12 count nuggets, should Philly score a goal off a corner kick. One goal scored off a corner kick will reward a 5-count nugget offer, two corner kick goals will be an 8-count offer, and three corner kick goals will be a 12-count offer.”

The offer will be available to claim via the Chick-fil-A app until 10:30 a.m. ET the following business day and will be redeemable for three business days at participating locations after the qualifying corner kick goal.
