Christopher Sanchez takes the mound tonight in hopes of building on an impressive outing against the Blue Jays. While he did allow 7 hits, he only gave up 1 run in 7 innings. That was the fourth time this season he’d given up fewer than 2 runs in a game, and he now faces a struggling Mets outfit that is battling just 0.175 in its last 3 games.
Across from Sanchez will be Sean Manaea who has pitched really strongly in the opening stanza outside of one rogue game against the Royals. With that said, he was only able to strike out one batter against the Cardinals in his most recent start and he’s allowed 4+ hits in 3 of his last 4. That should at least give the Phillies, batting .289 over their last 3, a window to work with.

The Mets are 4-6 in their last 10 and are already 8 games back of the Phils when it comes to vying for the NL East crown. While their offense does pose some potent threats such as Starling Marte and Pete Alonso, the Phils rank 4th in bullpen ERA and Sanchez has proven he can hold his own this season. As much as the Mets could steal a win, I think the safest bet is the UNDER given how good the Phillies have been this year, and the fact that Sean Manaea has an arm that commands respect.

Bryce Harper is a player I’ll be targeting tonight. He punched in 2 runs against the Marlins last time out and maintains a .258 career batting average against the Mets along with 35 homers in 619 at-bats. He hits a homer on one in every 19.7 at-bats on average against New York, and with the Mets struggling, this feels like a prime spot to take advantage of a +500 line on Harper to swing for the fences on Monday night.
