It seems like eliminating the Sixers from the playoffs just isn’t enough for your regular New York fan. Although the Sixers’ loss will sting the heart of every Philadelphia fan, the one great thing about last night was seeing A.J. Brown with Saquon Barkley at courtside.
Saquon Barkley spotted courtside at Sixers vs Knicks
The Eagles‘ newest running back has been hard at work with his offseason training but still found time to show the city that he’s fully invested in getting Philadelphia. It looks like that still isn’t sitting right with New York fans in general. Despite the big playoff series win for the Knicks, several fans still found a way to take a shot at Saquon Barkley.
One fan posted a picture of their middle finger pointed at Saquon’s live shot on the Jumbotron. Saquon got wind from a lot of the hate that he took some time out to respond and clear the air a bit.
Saquon signed a big three-year deal with the Eagles worth $37.75 million with $26 million guaranteed. Philadelphia needed a dual-threat running back that could help shoulder the load for Jalen Hurts. It has helped round out the offense and keep the Eagles in their hunt for a second Lombardi.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the Giants. They chose to extend Daniel Jones over Saquon Barkley last offseason and the franchise tagged the running back instead. This offseason though, Barkley was a hot commodity between the Eagles and the Houston Texans but oddly enough not with the Giants.
Saquon chose to clear the air last night and put the thought of him being a traitor to rest. He responded to a fan stating that Saquon bailed on New York by tweeting, “Let me educate some of you fans here… I can’t bail or become a traitor if I never got an offer to come back.. so I went to the organization I felt that was the best and after already being here for a month man I’m excited to be a eagle ! Go birds”
Imagine calling a player who gave his all to your franchise a traitor even after the franchise treated him like he was disposable. During his time with the Giants, Saquon tallied 5,211 rushing yards, and 35 touchdowns while averaging 4.3 yards per carry. It’s safe to say that the sky is the limit for Barkley and the Eagles’ offense.
