First and foremost, congratulations are in order to Bryce Harper and his wife Kayla. Their 3rd child should be here any time as the Phillies have placed Bryce Harper on the paternity list.

Bryce and Kayla had their first child, a boy named Krew, back in 2019. A year later, their daughter Brooklyn was born.

According to MLB’s paternity list rules, Harper can miss 1-3 games for the birth of his child. He will return before the end of the current 4-game series in Cincinnati.

Harper’s 2024 Season

In his first 21 games, Harper had a .241/.330/.443 slash line with 4 homers and 14 RBI. He’s done most of his damage in 1 memorable game against the Nationals when he hit 3 home runs for the 2nd time in his career (first with the Phillies).

Roster Moves

In his place, the Phillies are recalling Kody Clemens from Triple-A.

Kody, the son of MLB great Roger Clemens, will see his first MLB action since July 1st of last year. In his limited time with the Phillies, he’s hit .230 with a .644 OPS. He committed just 1 error in 39 games at 1B last season.

At Lehigh Valley, Clemens was having a solid start with the bat, slashing .270/.333/.508. Just like Harper, he’s a righty that hits lefty. He has not played 1B this season for the Iron Pigs. Darick Hall has overseen 1B for the Phillies Triple-A squad.

The Phillies head into their Monday night matchup with the Reds on a 6-game win streak. After their “slow” start, the Phillies are just 1 game behind the Braves in the NL East.
