The Philadelphia Eagles have continued their run of offseason housekeeping by signing LT Jordan Mailata to a 3-year extension worth $66M. The new deal keeps him in Philadelphia through 2028.

Eagles sign Jordan Mailata to a HUGE extension

As Adam Schefter notes, the new $22M AAV makes Jordan Mailata the NFL’s fourth-highest paid offensive tackle. It’s a big deal for a big man, but one he very much deserves and that the team have been wise to give him.

Jordan Mailata was initially a part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway program and was scouted by Jeff Stoutland prior to the 2018 NFL Draft. The Eagles selected The 6’8, 365 monster in the 7th round and the rest, as they say, is history.

After stepping in for an aging Jason Peters, it didn’t take Mailata long to snatch the starting reins full-time. He was given a $61M contract extension back in 2021, and the Eagles have given him another contract today to keep him in the City through 2028.

Mailata’s 2023 season was an impressive one. PFF graded him at 84.1 and he ranked 42 in their list of top-100 players for that year. The 27-year-old has become a stalwart on the offensive front and keeping him around was understandably a huge priority for the Eagles.

The former Rugby player has become a fan favorite in Philly. Whether it’s flexing his stunning vocal muscles on The Masked Singer, or helping to create one of the most wholesome Christmas records of all time in the name of charity, he’s become a key part of the team and its culture both on and off the field.

This isn’t the first big contract to be given out to an Eagles lineman this offseason. Landon Dickerson was also the beneficiary of a big-time payday, giving the Eagles a strong foundation to build the next generation of pass-protectors on top of.

Congratulations to Jordan for writing another chapter in what is already a remarkable story.
