MLB World Series Odds: The 2024 MLB season is underway and after a slow start for the Philadelphia Phillies, their odds of winning the World Series has gone up. If you are looking to bet on the Phils to win it all, this might be a golden opportunity.
MLB World Series Odds: Dodgers lead the way, Phillies in the chasing pack
MLB World Series Odds: Phillies odds sit at +1600 after opening weekend
The Phillies rolled into the season in the heart of the chasing pack and still remain despite a slight bump in price. They opened the season at +1400 to win the World Series and are now priced at +1600.
There is definitely some value backing them early. Sure, their opening series against the Braves has been tough to stomach, but Atlanta is still the top dog in the division and while a strong benchmark, it’s also a tough way to start the year. It’s not like they’ve been blown out by the Orioles, for instance.
Bryce Harper has narrowly avoided a big injury following a crazy dive into the dugout camera, but the former NL MVP is healthy to start the year, which is a very different situation to what we saw last season. Sure, the team needs to start firing offensively and there have been early question marks over Aaron Nola’s form, but these aren’t abnormal circumstances. The team has overcome these same difficulties in each of the last two years and found their way into the playoffs, and that should inspire hope.
The Phillies still boast much of their strong core from last season and once again feature an all-star batting lineup on most nights. The future is bright, even if the opening series has been disappointing at best. If the Phillies can avoid the same pitfalls that presented themselves last year, they should be right in the hunt by the time October rolls around.
If you haven’t bet on the Phillies to win the World Series just yet, now might be a good time thanks to this slight jump in price. If the team does get rolling against the Reds next week, it won’t take long for the odds to come back down, so locking in a high price early is always a good idea. If you’re bullish on another Red October, there’s no better time than right now.
