The Eagles continue to build on their depth this offseason as it has now been reported that Philadelphia is signing former Giants WR Parris Campbell to a one-year deal. Campbell only played in 12 games last season with the Giants and finished the season with 20 receptions for 104 yards and no touchdowns.

The 26-year-old wideout spent his previous years with the Indianapolis Colts. Campbell has familiarity with Nick Sirianni as the Eagles head coach was the Colts offensive coordinator during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. The former 59th overall has great potential but he’s only put together one full season in his entire career.

Boom or Bust for the Eagles?

While injuries have plagued him throughout his career, Campbell can be a dangerous threat when his number is called upon. In 2021 he had his best season where he finished with 63 receptions, 623 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. His potential is exactly why Eagles fans should be optimistic about this move. Pair that with his familiarity with Nick Sirianni and this could be another solid move for the Eagles.

With Quez Watkins still being a free agent the Eagles strategically targeted a player that could be their veteran slot receiver. Watkins had an up and down career with the Eagles that has seemingly come to an end this offseason. It seemed that after the Eagles traded for A.J. Brown , Watkins was unable to adapt to the change in his role. Now with free agency underway, Philly has targeted a player that can be their potential slot receiver. In 2022 during his time with the Colts, Parris Campbell lined up heavily in the slot for the Colts as he finished that year with an 82% slot rate.

The Eagles have struggled to find a reliable slot receiver with Brown and Smith manning the outside positions. This could be a great move for Philly if Campbell can stay healthy but once again, that has been the story of his career thus far. Another boom or bust play for Philly but another great depth move as they continue to build this offseason.
