After their 2024 Stadium Series defeat to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, the Philadelphia Flyers (29-20-7) are back in action tonight. The ‘Orange and Black’ will take on the Chicago Blackhawks (15-38-5) for the first time this season.

When these teams both met previously, on April 13th, 2023, the Flyers defeated the Blackhawks, 5-4, courtesy of an Ivan Provorov game-winning goal.

A loss to the Devils at MetLife Stadium tightened the Metropolitan Division standings. Tonight, the Flyers must pick up two crucial points against the Blackhawks, last place in the NHL.

Chicago Blackhawks

All of the hype in Chicago surrounds Connor Bedard. The rookie phenom is already living up to his superstar expectations with 39 points (17G, 22A) in 42 games. He returned to action last Thursday after missing over a month with a broken jaw.

Since returning, Bedard contributed six points (2G, 4A) in three games. Without Bedard, the Blackhawks look completely lost, but his presence certainly rejuvenates them. Bedard will operate as the top-line center and serve with the first powerplay unit.

After Bedard, the lineup thins, but Jason Dickinson provided some scoring this season. He signed a 2yr/$8.5mil extension last month. Dickinson has 27 points (17G, 10A) in 56 games.

Here’s the projected lineup for the Chicago Blackhawks, per Ben Pope:

Foligno-Bedard-Kurashev
Beauvillier-Dickinson-Anderson
Johnson, R-Johnson, T-Raddysh
Blackwell-Entwistle-Donato

Vlasic-Jones
Korchinski-Megna
Tinordi-Phillips

Philadelphia Flyers

Owen Tippett potted two goals at the Stadium Series, bringing the Flyers back into the game once the Devils jumped to an early lead. In his last game against the Blackhawks, Tippett recorded two points (1G, 1A). For his career, 11 games, Tippett has six points (3G, 3A) against Chicago.

Sean Couturier is frequently on the score sheet against the Blackhawks. In 14 games, he has 11 points (5G, 6A), but hasn’t faced Chicago since October 24th, 2019. The new captain will be at the forefront of capturing two points in the Windy City.

Here’s the projected lineup for the Philadelphia Flyers, per Jordan Hall:

Tippett-Couturier-Atkinson
Farabee-Frost-Konecny
Poehling-Cates-Hathaway
Deslauriers-Laughton-Lycksell

York-Drysdale
