The run-up to the Oscars is always an exciting time of year. The biggest stars and movies being nominated for Academy Awards sparks interest across the globe. The 96th rendition of The Oscars is set to take place on Sunday March 10th and if you’re wondering about betting on the remarkable event, you’ve come to the right place.

Wait, you can bet on the Oscars?

The 2024 Academy Awards will take place on March 10th-11th this year from Dolby Theatre and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Movie fans have plenty of time to place their bets on award winners, but it’s still something pretty new to the historic event.

as of right now, you can bet on the Oscars in the following eight States:

New Jersey
Arizona
Indiana
Michigan
Colorado
Onatrio
Louisiana
Kansas

Arizona was added to the list of states where it’s legal to bet on the Oscars this year, and it’s expected that plenty more will follow in years to come.

So, how does betting on the Oscars actually work?

How to bet on The Oscars 2024

Much like sports betting, The Oscars have futures markets. The difference is that instead of betting the Eagles to win a Super Bowl, you’d be backing Oppenheimer to win the Best Picture 2024 award.

There are several great categories to choose from as well, including Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director, as well of the jewel in the crown – Best Picture 2024.

Oppenheimer is the current favorite priced at -1000, with its Summer sibling Barbie priced at +1400. This means that a $5 bet on Barbie to win could net fans a whopping $75 should it win the award!

Oppenheimer does seem to be leading the way in most categories, with Cilian Murphy being a heavy favorite to win best actor. Best Actress, however, is wide open.

Emma Stone’s tremendous performance in ‘Poor Things’ has pushed her to the top of the odds list at -120, but Lily Gladstone shined brightly in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon‘ and is priced at -110. If you want a real outsider, Margot Robbie is priced at +2000 for her performance as ‘Barbie’. Could we see an upset?

Which Sportsbooks enable betting on the Oscars?

Provided you’re located in one of the aforementioned eight states, you can access Oscars betting markets on the following sportsbooks, as well as claim some exciting betting offers!

If you were going to bet $5 on Oppenheimer to win ‘Best Motion Picture’ it wouldn’t really be worth it considering the minimal returns. However, if you sign up for a new sportsbook, they’ll often give you some bonus bets as a welcome gift. This could turn your $5 into $200 of bonus bets and give you much greater returns…or an even bigger stage on a longshot!
