Baker Mayfield OVER 1.5 passing touchdowns: -110
After lighting up the Philadelphia Eagles for 337 yards and three passing touchdowns, Baker Mayfield is certainly feeling at home with his new team in Tampa. Sunday presents a bit more of a challenge as the Bucs head from ol’ familiar Raymond James Stadium to the Lions’ stomping grounds at Ford Field.
Working in their favor is the fact that the Lions’ secondary is hardly better than the Eagles’ swiss cheese defensive backfield. While Mayfield may not have his way as he did against Philadelphia, he’ll certainly have the opportunity to put up points in bunches.
The Eagles’ defenders weren’t the only players in last week’s Wild Card matchup to have some on-the-field hiccups. Star wideout Mike Evans had himself two crucial drops that would have made Baker’s performance look even more impressive. A week later, the Bucs should have those mental errors cleaned up and their offense should be ready to roll in Detroit.
Sam LaPorta OVER 4.5 receptions: +105
Despite his questionable status heading into the matchup, there is little doubt that Lions’ star rookie tight end Sam LaPorta will be ready to go for this second-round matchup. Against the Rams last Sunday, LaPorta was largely bottled up, but he was still able to find the endzone in addition to his three receptions.
Another week and the hyperextended knee LaPorta suffered a couple of weeks ago should be that much closer to being fully healed. Even if he’s not at 100 percent, LaPorta has a chance to make a major impact against one of the worst defensive units against tight ends.
The Bucs have given up an average of 5.9 receptions against tight ends all season; that’s tied for the second-worst mark in the NFL. Against a powerhouse of a player in LaPorta, they will once again have their hands full.

Mike Evans anytime TD: -105
As mentioned previously, Mike Evans had a few concentration issues against the Eagles last Monday night. Thankfully, for the sake of Bucs fans, the team didn’t need either of his touchdown drops to down Philadelphia in the Wild Card round. Against a starving Detroit team, those same mistakes cannot be made.
While quarterback Baker Mayfield proved capable of spreading the ball around last week, Evans is the clear top option on this Tampa offense. He’s a mismatch against the best of corners, who he certainly is not set to face in this matchup.
Expect Evans to make right on last week and take at least one to the house Sunday afternoon.
Detroit Lions -6 against the spread: -110
The Detroit Lions had no easy task taking down the Rams and former longtime quarterback Mathew Stafford in the Wild Card round. Even still, the team managed to fight through each and every minute of play until they came out the other side as the victors.
Against the Bucs, the Lions will certainly be looking at another tough task, but this is a Detroit team that now knows the feeling of winning in the postseason, something the Lions had not tasted in 30 years prior to last Sunday. They are not ready to lose that feeling.
Expecting a blowout against a surprisingly tenacious Bucs team may be a bit much to ask, but to clear Tampa by a touchdown is certainly within the realm of possibility. Jared Goff has played some of his best football since coming to Detroit, and with weapons like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, and David Montgomery, he’s not set to slow down any time soon.
