A battle of teams ranked second in their respective divisions, the Philadelphia Flyers (25-14-6) host the Colorado Avalanche (29-14-3).

John Tortorella cited how the team is playing with good energy after what he described as a ‘hell of a hockey game’ from his lineup versus the Dallas Stars. To his philosophy, the Flyers must continue to move with a ‘one day at a time’ mentality as the season progresses.

Earlier this season, the Avalanche hosted a 5-2 loss versus Philadelphia. They’re among the elite in the NHL. The Flyers are closing in on that same label in 2023-2024, and sweeping Colorado would help.

Colorado Avalanche

Wrapping up a five-game road trip, the Avalanche make their last stop on Broad Street. In their latest performance, the Boston Bruins won 5-2.

Miles Wood scored two goals and added an assist since returning to the lineup from an illness. He engaged in a physical contest against the Bruins but rewarded his play with a rebound goal in the first period. In his career, Wood tallied 14 points (8G, 6A) against Philadelphia, just none while playing in Colorado.

Here’s the tentative lineup for the Colorado Avalanche:

Drouin-MacKinnon-Rantanen
Wood-Colton-O’Connor
Cogliano-Johansen-Kiviranta
MacDermid-Olofsson-Polin

Toews-Makar
Girard-Manson
Johnson-Malinski

Philadelphia Flyers

Tortorella praised his lineup mightily when he said he felt the Stars were one of the best teams in the NHL. The same goes for the Avalanche.

Travis Sanheim had an active stick versus Dallas, reducing the Stars to one shot allowed in the first period. He and Nick Seeler did a stellar job of clogging shooting lanes. Earlier this season in Colorado, Sanheim scored the game-winning goal while adding an assist later in the third on a goal scored by Joel Farabee.

Here’s the tentative lineup for the Philadelphia Flyers, per Jordan Hall:

Tippett-Couturier-Konecny
Foerster-Laughton-Hathaway
Farabee-Frost-Atkinson
Poehling-Cates

Sanheim-Drysdale
Seeler-Walker
York-Ristolainen
Zamula
