With the Eagles now just hours away from their playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, all eyes are fixed on Raymond James Stadium, including those of former Eagles RB, LeGarrette Blount.
Blount spoke with the insiders at Betway ahead of the crucial clash, giving his views on the season so far and the rollercoaster that his former team has endured.
Former Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount opens up about the Birds
“They looked good early.” Blount said. “I will say they were scoring points, but to be honest with you, they were winning games, but not in the most dominant fashion.”
“You know, I feel like they were showing big flashes of what they could do in a potential and a ceiling that they could reach. But not a lot of games were really that comforting or comfortable whenever we were watching them saying like, oh snap, we’re going to beat the crap out of this team. And, you know, throughout the season I kind of got that feeling.
Then late, when they finally hit some of these teams after Thanksgiving, they’re starting to change things and, you know, getting ready to make your real run towards the postseason and doing everything you got to do to win these games. We didn’t show up. Even last week against the Giants we didn’t show up. We played our starters.
That’s some inside problems that we got to figure out and got to work on.”
Blount was of course a member of the 2017 Super Bowl-winning team. In that game, the three-time Super Bowl winner rushed for 90 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown to help push the Eagles to their first-ever Lombardi Trophy at the expense of his former team.
If anyone knows how to win a Super Bowl and what it takes to get back to the big dance, it’s LeGarrette Blount.
Does he think the Eagles can turn it around?
“Yeah, I do.” He told Betway. “I think they’re capable because they have a defense that could be very opportunistic. They’ve got an offense that could be extremely explosive at any point in time in a game. So, yeah, they have it.
But like I said, whatever it is that they have going on, they have to fix it. And maybe that’s internal. Maybe there’s some coaching, maybe there’s some coach and player disagreements, maybe they have some and maybe there’s some higher-up stuff where the coaches argue. I don’t know what it is, and I’m not going to speculate or say it, but I know that roster has the potential to be a Super Bowl-contending roster.
The Eagles will face the Bucs this evening in hopes of righting the ship. There are no more margins for error having lost five of their last six games. One more loss and the season ends along with their hopes of returning to the Super Bowl. Can the Eagles get back on track? Let’s hope so…
