The Philadelphia Eagles have released their final injury report ahead of Monday’s Wild Card clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There is some good news, and some bad news when it comes to the injury report.
Eagles injury report: A.J Brown OUT for Monday’s game
After exiting the week 18 loss to New York, A.J Brown would miss the first two practices of the week, sparking speculation over the severity of the injury, and his status for the game. Shortly after, he wiped his social media accounts without any real reason, which only added fuel to the fire.
Adam Schefter revealed on Saturday that the knee strain sustained by Brown would indeed sideline him for this week, with the hope being that he will be good to go for the next round, should the Eagles advance.
This is obviously disappointing news. A.J Brown has been the teams’ most valuable playmaker offensively. He was given to the AP All-Pro honors earlier this week after ranking 5th in the NFL in receiving and crushing multiple team and league records. His absence will be felt against the Bucs.
All signs seem to point to an uptick in snaps for Quez Watkins and Olamide Zaccheaus, with the former reportedly being told to ‘answer the call’ by Jalen Hurts.
Hopefully, the Eagles can survive without their best receiver.
Always look on the bright side of life
The good news is that outside of A.J, only Sydney Brown (ACL) is sidelined for this game. Reed Blankenship is questionable having missed all three practices this week, but it’s at least encouraging that he’s not been designated as ‘OUT’.
The rest of those previously listed on the injury report were full participants on Saturday, giving the Eagles a moderate sense of relief before traveling to Florida.
Jalen Hurts given the green light
Jalen Hurts was a full participant on Saturday and will be playing on Monday night. The quarterback was dealing with a finger injury also sustained against the Giants, but has worked back this week and appears to be ready to go.
He took a hit to the middle finger on his throwing hand during the loss to the Giants and ultimately exited the game despite his best efforts. The question now is simply one of how much strength he has in a finger that was popped back into place just a few days ago, but an improved status is encouraging.
