NBA Christmas 2023: Best bets
Dallas Mavericks +5 vs Phoenix Suns
The Mavs are a 17-win team and the Suns have won just a single game in their last five. As dominant as Kevin Durant has been this year, Luka Doncic has surpassed the 30+ point mark 20 times this season. Fire meets ice in this exciting matchup, and the Mavs are the hotter of the two teams. I’ll take the points.
Golden State Warriors +6.5 vs Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are riding a four-game win streak into the holidays, while the Warriors have been fighting constant outside noise. Golden State ranks 25th in FG%, but that’s just not sustainable. There is no way a team that rides the 3-point shot as much as Golden State, and has players as talented as Steph and Klay, will be down in the doldrums for long.
I’ll take a 3-possession line here in hopes the Warriors cover at home on Christmas.
Philadelphia 76ers vs Miami Heat OVER 226
The Sixers have been on a tear this season leaving the James Harden era behind them and relying on the talents of Tyese Maxey to get them back to the top of the East. So far, so good.
After demolishing the Toronto Raptors, the Sixers shouldn’t have too much difficulty scoring against the Heat, but Miami have also been great offensively this season and has put up 110+ in six of its last 7 games. This should give the ‘over’ a really strong shot of cashing.
