NFL Christmas 2023: Best bets

New York Jets -3 vs Washington Commanders

I’m not a huge fan of backing the Jets this season, but fading a Commanders team that has lost 5 in a row and is now on the road for Christmas? I’m in.

The Jets have shown signs of life this season before being humbled by both the Dolphins and Texans, two premier AFC sides. They now face an NFC bottom-feeder which should provide them with a nice platform to end the year on a high.

Houston Texans +3 vs Cleveland Browns

The Texans and Browns are two teams trending in the right direction, but outside of a big outing against the Jags, Cleveland’s offense just hasn’t been able to put up more than 20 points regularly. They rank 29th in yards per play, which is scary when you consider that Houston’s defense ranks 5th in this metric over the last 3 weeks.

We get the better team and some points to work with.

Dallas Cowboys -2 vs Miami Dolphins

Realistically, the Cowboys need this game more than the Fins do. Buffalo is two wins back of Miami, while the Cowboys essentially have to win-out if they have any hopes of securing an NFC East crown.

Keen to avenge a blowout loss to the Bills, the Cowboys will have to treat this as a must-win game, whereas the sense of urgency for Miami might not be there.
