NFL MVP Odds: How does Jalen Hurts rank after San Francisco 49ers loss
The Philadelphia Eagles are 10-2 after losing to the San Francisco 49ers in disappointing fashion. QB Jalen Hurts entered the game on the back of a big win over the Buffalo Bills and while it wasn’t his finest performance of the season, he certainly was among the very few bright spots of a loss that was otherwise infuriating.
What has that done to the NFL MVP Odds? You’ll be surprised…
Jalen Hurts is +125 to win NFL MVP in 2023
Jalen Hurts started the season at around the +1100 mark when it came to the MVP Odds race. 12 games into the season, he’s now among lead favorites at +350! He was +125 last week, but a loss to Brock Purdy has sent the Niners QB surging to the top of the odds list.
With big wins over the Dolphins, Chiefs, and Bills on his resume this season, Hurts has proven his value on a regular basis. There are some big games left on his schedule, but the worst of the storm is over, which should give him an easier road to the MVP Award, while Brock Purdy still has to handle the Seahawks, Rams, and fellow MVP candidate – Lamar Jackson.
We knew that a clash between Brock Purdy and Jalen Hurts would significantly tilt the scales, but we didn’t know just how much they would move. it feels like this has become a wide-open race, with Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes lingering in the distance. Dak Prescott has closed right up on the MVP leaders and if the Eagles fail to beat the Cowboys this weekend, it could spell real trouble for Jalen’s MVP hopes. However, a season-sweep of the Cowboys would likely flip the tables and make it hard for anyone to beat Jalen Hurts.
With games against the Cowboys and Seahawks on deck, there is every chance that Jalen Hurts separates himself from the pack and establishes himself as the runaway candidate for this years’ MVP Award, although Vegas seems to have already waved the chequered flag…
Jalen Hurts also pushed A.J Brown into the history books this season, with the young wideout becoming the first in NFL history to have 6 consecutive games with at least 120 receiving yards in a single season.
Jalen Hurts also holds the current NFL record for most wins in a row when his team is down by 10+ points. The record? 8.
If you’re looking to bet on Jalen Hurts to win the MVP award, now might be a good time for that very reason. If a win over the Bills plummeted his odds, a win over the Niners might have a similar effect. Hurts went from +1000 to +650 in a seven-day span last year upon his return from a shoulder injury and it would be fair to say that the MVP race would’ve been tighter had he played an entire year.
But while the world still sleeps on Jalen Hurts winning the NFL MVP award, you have the opportunity to cash in and make some money.
