Jake Browning over 217.5 passing yards
The Bengals have the 15th-ranked passing offense this season. With Jake Browning at the helm last week, the team actually put up 227 yards (12 more than their season average).
The Jags are allowing 255 passing yards per game and Browning’s 73% completion rate against a tight Steelers defense should inspire hope that Browning can repeat that performance against a far leakier unit.
Joe Mixon over 46.5 yards
The Jags run defense is a much tougher unit and Mixon has had a tough season of sledding. Averaging just 3.9 yards per carry, the Bengals’ bell-cow back has looked a step slower than his usual self. With that said, a backup QB is likely to prompt a more rushing-focused attack if the Jags do find themselves in front, which is plausible when you consider the level of pass defense they’re bringing to the table.
Mixon’s workload has been hard to rely on, but 46 yards is a number he’s hit 8 times this season. It’s a far cry from what we’ve come to expect and at such a low total, I’m happy to buy the dip.
Calvin Ridley to score an anytime TD
With 3 touchdowns over the last two weeks, Calvin Ridley has exploded back into the ‘elite’ conversation. A hot start was initially slowed, but Ridley has put up 192 yards in his last two games and Lawrence is a QB who thrives when confidence is high.
If the Jaguars are going to beat the Bengals, they’ll need to start hot and give their pass defense as much help as possible by reducing pressure. This should give Trevor Lawrence an additional push to find his dominant WR1.
Cincinnati Bengals over 13.5 points
Can the Bengals score more than two touchdowns against the Jaguars? Absolutely. The Jake Browning factor is hammering this total down, but at -118 you can get this very attractive two-score line. The Bengals only put up 10 against the Steelers, but Browning did well to protect the rock. Again, the Jags secondary is suspect and should give the Bengals a much easier run of things on Monday.
Cincy’s offense is averaging 19 points per contest, while the Jags’ defense is allowing 23 over their last 3 games. Again, this should give us some low-risk upside to work with
