The journey to the World Series continues tonight in Arizona as Game 4 of the National League Championship series between the Phillies and Diamondbacks takes place. The Diamondbacks played their way back into the series with a narrow win last night, but can the Phillies reclaim all momentum before going back home to finish the mission?
If you’re watching the NLCS tonight, you can get in on the action by rooting for the Phils and your wallet. We’ve found some prop bets worth backing in game 4 of the NLCS.
Back the Bats
Alec Bohm
It’s a bullpen game for the D-Backs in Game 4. Joe Mantiply will take the mound on the back of giving up 3 runs in game 2 of the NLCS. According to Reuters, he has a 7.36 ERA in five relief appearances against the Phils, which is bad news considering Philadelphia put up 15 runs through the opening 2 games of the series.
There are a few ways to bet this. You could simply back the OVER (9.5), but it could also be worth looking at individual performances.
Alec Bohm is really starting to find his footing after a wobbly postseason. He went 1-4 in Game 3 but recorded 2 RBI’s in the 10-0 rout one game prior.
Chase Field is renowned for being a large ballpark and while betting on him to hit a home run might be asking a little too much, Bohm has recorded 3 doubles this postseason and 6 hits in total. There’s a 50% chance that if he records a hit, it’s a double. You can get Bohm to record 1.5+ bases at -105 which is tremendous value.
Trea Turner
A mid-season resurgence inspired by the fans rallying in support has lifted Trea Turner back to his best. Did you know that he’s recorded 1+ hit in every playoff game so far? With 16 hits in 34 at-bat’s, Turner is a force to be reckoned with.
He’s batting .400 against the D-Backs this series having scored 3 runs in 10 at-bats. A Trea Turner home run in what promises to be a bullpen game for Arizona is +350 which does give some serious upside to willing bettors.
Kyle Schwarber
Kyle Schwarber has 4 runs against the D-Backs this series but was silenced in game 3. We all saw how dominant he was in game 2 and there’s every chance he gets back on that Horse today.
Since 2015, Schwarber has a .235 batting average in the postseason. While he’s been streaky, we’ve seen some absolute Schwarbombs over the last few weeks and there’s nothing streaky about that. He’s’ actually put up 9 home runs in his last 20 playoff games…which gives you a near-50% strike rate if you were to back that market blindly each time.
