The 2023 College Football season is rapidly approaching and if you’re looking to bet on the winners of the Big 12 Championship, this may be the best time before the odds start to shift once the first games have been played.

It should come as no surprise that the Texas Longhorns are favored to win the Big 12 Championship this year. Their resurgence has been well documented, but success in 2023 is anything but a guarantee. They face 10 teams who had winning records in 2022 and will have to prove they belong among the nation’s elite if they are to claim their first conference crown since 2009.
Oklahoma sits second on the odds list at +350. This is surprising given that the Sooners shockingly finished below .500 last year. This just isn’t a team you can confidently back knowing that they’ll be in the mix for the Big 12 title. Year 2 of the Brent Venables era could be a big one, but it’s going to take a huge turnaround for Oklahoma to lift another conference title.
Instead of backing the Sooners, I do like Kansas State. They won their first conference title since 2003 last year before losing in the Sugar Bowl to Alabama. QB Will Howard had a brilliant 2022 season and will be hoping for much of the same this year. It’s rare to find a defending champion being labelled as underdogs, but that does present some value to bettors.
