They have had their fair share of wins as of late. While many still feel they were robbed in the Super Bowl, the Eagles did win on Sunday night as their franchise QB Jalen Hurts was named BET’s Sportsman of the Year.

This is a very deserving award for the 3rd year starter who has had a tremendous offseason. It’s fair to say that he should have won the MVP award as well as the Eagles were the best team in football during the season. Unfortunately, due to missing a couple of games because of a shoulder injury, Hurts lost traction on winning the award.

Still, though, no award could truly define the remarkable season that Jalen Hurts had during his second year as a starter. Hurts threw for a career-high 3,701 passing yards and 22 touchdowns while completing 67% of his passes. He was a threat on the ground as well as he tallied 760 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.

Jalen Hurts did remarkable things in 2022 which helped lead the Eagles to Super Bowl 57. Even in the Super Bowl, against the best QB in the NFL, Jalen Hurts was the best player on the field. The Chiefs couldn’t find a way to stop him at times but caught a break on a fumble which led to a defensive score.

The stakes are high for Jalen Hurts in 2023 but he’s the perfect guy for the job. Hurts will lead an offense that hasn’t lost many key pieces but has added some better ones. Can the BET Sportsman of the Year lead the Eagles to Super Bowl 58 and possibly another parade down Broad Street?
