A sluggish start to the 2023 campaign initially resulted in a huge spike in Worlds Series futures prices. The Phillies were +1500 during the offseason and rose to +2800 following their disappointing start. However, things are coming together and the Phils are now +2200 to win it all this season.
The team is now comfortably over .500 and sits 8 games behind the Atlanta Braves, whom they just so happen to be hosting in a series this week. A few big performances and that lead could almost be cut in half. It should also be noted that the Braves are the current World Series favorites.
The Phillies may have lucked into a playoff berth in 2022 after struggling to really finish strong, but their effort throughout the postseason was beyond impressive. That same resiliency is already on display this season and if the team can figure out the fifth spot in the pitching rotation and some other subtle tweaks, then there is no reason history can’t repeat itself.
