It’s that time of year. Former NFL QB and current football analyst, Chris Simms, is in the middle of revealing his quarterback rankings ahead of the 2023 season. The placing of Jalen Hurts on this list is slightly confusing, but that shouldn’t really be a shock by now.

Chris Simms ranks Jalen Hurts 7th in 2023 QB rankings

After previously ranking Jalen Hurts a shocking 25th position in 2022, it’s nice to see that the man who led the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance is now ranked: inside the top 10. It’s absolutely still 3-4 places too low if we’re being generous, but it’s an improvement nonetheless.

When Hurts was ranked behind the likes of Daniel Jones in 2022, it was outright shocking. But after finishing 2nd in the MVP race and throwing a TD/INT ratio of 22/6 on top of a rushing season that rivaled that of Cam Newton’s MVP excellence, the ranking of 7th is just disappointing at this stage.

I wrote yesterday about expectations for Jalen Hurts going into 2023 and how they are simply phantom. Hurts addressed every criticism possible in 2022, rose above the noise, and put together a campaign like no other. If he can sustain that level of play and just continue to grow within this system and elevate everyone around him as he has done so effortlessly, then it won’t be long before Chris Simms will be writing notes apologies on Twitter…
