The Phillies have been unable to take advantage of pitching advantages in this series and their last hopes lie on the shoulders of Ranger Suarez as he squares off with the impressive Zac Gallen. Suarez allowed 4 earned runs and 5 hits against the Cubs in his last appearance, and his return to the mound has been a far cry from what was originally expected. Pitching against an offense as potent as this could yield more problems if Suarez isn’t on his A-game.
As for Gallen, his season has been great up to this point. He gave up 0 runs and just 4 hits in a win over the Royals back at the end of April, but has cooled off in recent weeks, He gave up five runs and eight hits in a disappointing 13-3 loss to the Pirates.
