The New York Jets finally pulled off a trade they’ve been pushing for all offseason. Aaron Rodgers is now their franchise quarterback and the Jets will be looking to go all-in on a playoff run in 2023. What does that mean for Aaron Rodgers’ MVP hopes?

NFL MVP Odds: Aaron Rodgers to win NFL MVP +1600

Aaron Rodgers isn’t a leading candidate to win the MVP award in 2023 and that’s understandable. The Jets offense was pretty poor throughout the entirety of last season despite the receiving heroics of Garrett Wilson and some flashes from Michael Carter. With Aaron Rodgers at the helm and the arrival of Allen Lazard, the offense could take a significant leap forward.

Patrick Mahomes takes the top spot in the MVP race going into the summer and that was always going to be the case. The big surprise recently has been the rise of Justin Herbert, who was close to +2000 not too long ago. He dealt with injuries in 2022 but will be playing in a new offense under Kellen Moore which may unlock some of that generational potential he’s flashed time and time again.

Rodgers may be getting older, but he is still a 4x MVP winner and won the award as recently as 2021 when the Packers went 13-4. Getting to that record in the vaunted AFC East would require an effort worthy of the MVP Award, with Rodgers having to play all three of the Dolphins, Bills, and Patriots twice.
