The Phillies offense has been inconsistent since then, having only scored 2 runs in yesterday’s loss. The team ranks 24th in the MLB in runs scored per game which is a far cry from the team fans fell in love with last season.
The Reds shouldn’t be overlooked and Phillies fans are learning that the hard way. Will Myers put up a pair of hits and RBI’s yesterday, while Jake Fraley has already demonstrated his ability against the Phils this season with a 3-run double last week. Elsewhere, Jason Vosler had an RBI double last week and has 9 to his name this season. Cincy might only have 55 runs on the year, but they’re far more efficient offensively than a Phillies team that continues to stack bases and leave runners stranded.
However, the Phils are still batting .287 on the year and lit up Overton when they last met. There is every chance this offense catches fire again and the Phils have been able to really get some impressive production from unlikely places.
Brandon Marsh has a hit in 9 of his 12 games this year, while Edmundo Sosa had a pair of hits against the Reds yesterday as he looks to continue to prove he’s more than just a temporary solution.
