According to Mike Klis of 9NEWS, the Philadelphia Eagles will be interviewing Vance Joseph for their Defensive Coordinator vacancy on Monday.

Who is Vance Joseph?

Joseph is a name that has been around the NFL for years now, and one with Head Coaching experience already under his belt. He was the Head Coach for the Denver Broncos in 2017-18 and has unsurprisingly also interviewed for the DC role with them this past weekend. Klis notes in a separate report that the interview lasted 8 hours.

After being let go from the Broncos following a fairly disappointing two-year stint as Head Coach, he ventured to Arizona where he became Defensive Coordinator for the Cardinals. The Cards had some great units under his tutelage, and players like Haason Reddick truly thrived. But it is worth noting that they ranked 31st in points allowed per game last year, a huge step back from previous years.

Should the Eagles be interested?

Vance Joseph’s defenses aren’t really renowned for being water-tight. However, they are known for being aggressive which is something Eagles fans craved for the majority of Jonathan Gannon’s tenure. With Head Coaching experience on his resume and a proven track record of sending the kitchen sink whenever possible. If the Eagles are looking to go from one extreme to the other, Joseph would certainly fit the bill.
