According to Jim Salisbury, the Phillies are working on a trade to acquire Gregory Soto from the Tigers. It’s been a fairly quiet few weeks for the Phils, but they’re starting the new year off with a bang.

Jon Morosi would soon add some extra details, including the players that the Phillies could be giving up.

It’s no secret that the Phillies craved some help in the relief pitcher department and 28-year-old Soto would be a great addition to the team. He’s a two-time All-Star who amassed 30 saves for Detroit last year, along with a 3.28 ERA.

The Phillies giving up Nick Maton and Matt Vierling may be tough to stomach for some fans as the two emerged as extremely likable characters in the locker room. Being able to exchange some key bench names for a player as impactful as Soto would be huge for the Phils.
