The Eagles go into this game 14-point favorites which in itself is quite telling, but also surprising. There is still a chance that they will be without franchise QB Jalen Hurts and they’re now 0-2 with a struggling Gardner Minshew under center. Sprinkle in injuries to impact players like Lane Johnson and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and it’s fair to say that this team has been behind the 8 ball in recent weeks. That may change Sunday, but nothing is certain in the NFL.
Technically, the New York Giants have nothing to play for. They wrapped up the sixth seed this past weekend and can’t advance any further. This would be an opportune time to rest their starters ahead of their first playoff appearance since 2016, where they were knocked out in the wildcard round.
But the team was bitter when the Eagles pulled Jalen Hurts from a week 17 clash with the Commanders in 2021. That decision gave Washington a win and pushed New York out of playoff contention. Fans and players were livid. Sure, this is a different regime, but this could be an opportunity to play spoiler against a divisional rival and get some revenge in the process.
From a footballing perspective, this game is hard to evaluate. The Eagles ripped the Giants to shreds when the two clashed earlier in the year, but that was with Jalen Hurts in the mix. He did apparently complete a team walkthrough on Wednesday, something he had not done since picking up his shoulder injury, which is an encouraging sign. Getting Jalen Hurts back would be monumental for this Eagles team, which appears to have lost its sparkle since the MVP candidate got hurt.
Life without Hurts has been miserable for Eagles fans. If he does play, like many expect him to, and the Giants do rest their starters, as they logically should, then this game should get out of hand fast. If either of those things fails to happen, things could get much more interesting.

The Eagles beat the Giants 48-22 when they met earlier in the year and that was with the full team playing. There is a big chance that the starters for New York are rested and this is a must-win game for the Eagles. I’d back them to win this game comfortably and by more than 14 points.
