Prediction results from the Union’s 2022 campaign!

It’s that time of year again; it’s time to reflect on the year that was! The Philadelphia Union had a great year in 2022, and the predictions some had back in February about the success the team would have were spot on! Here’s a look back at the predictions of the Doop by the River gang and the ultimate bragging rights that one fan gets for picking 25 of 40 correct results!

Coming into 2022, Philly was preparing for a successful year that was all about making MLS Cup. The team exceeded expectations in the regular season, made a run to MLS Cup, and played in the best MLS Cup Final ever falling just short of hoisting the cup.

Before the season started, many had high hopes for what 2022 would hold for Philadelphia. It was reflected in the picks that many made. A lot of people were high on this team doing well, and making a deep playoff run. Optimism ruled the day and came to fruition for the most part in 2022. Here’s a closer look at the prediction results!

Doop by the River gang’s prediction results

The five Doop by the River members did a decent job picking the Union’s 2022 results. Justin and Zach had the highest percentage of correct picks, getting 18 out of 40 picks right, boasting 45% correct. Steve and yours truly finished one pick behind those two dropping their percentage to 42.5% correct. El Parcero Philly had the most optimistic picks out of our entire group but finished last among the Doop by the River gang, picking 15 out of 40 results correctly with a 37.5 percent.

The Doop by the River gang did a decent job with the preseason picks, but if you stack those picks up against the Union fans who entered their picks alongside ours, and the best of us would only finish 6th!

The final tally of your predictions!

Of the 10 fans that put their picks in before the start of the 2022 season, four did a better job picking results, and five finished better than, or equal to, the Doop by the River gang! It was a year where many thought the Union would be very successful and come good on their promise to make a run to MLS Cup!

Congratulations to Bob King, who topped all with a record of 25-out-of-40 correct picks; 62.5 percent correct! You sir get ultimate bragging rights heading into the new year! Props as well to Sherri Vass who takes second place; one result short of tying for the top spot, and Lorenzo and Andrew Tibbetts who picked exactly half of the results correctly and tie for third place!

As we transition toward 2023, we’ll get a chance to predict next season’s Union results again! Be sure to be on the lookout for a google form closer to the start of the 2023 season so you can make your picks to win ultimate bragging rights for an entire year. If we at PSN and Doop by the River can get ourselves together, you might even be able to win something in the form of merch to go along with those bragging rights next year!
