Capping off a four-game road trip with a victory against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, the Philadelphia Flyers are back at the Wells Fargo Center tonight to face the New York Rangers in another Metropolitan Division showdown.

This is the second of three matchups between both teams this season. On November 1st, 2022, the Rangers beat the Flyers in overtime, 1-0.

New York Rangers (16-10-5)

The Rangers are currently riding a five-game winning streak. After a slow start to the new season, they’re in fourth place in the division.

Artemi Panarin (6G, 29A) is the Rangers leading scorer. Panarin averages more than a point per game against the Flyers. In 27 career games against the Orange and Black, Panarin tallied 37 points (12G, 25A.)

Jacob Trouba (-6, 98HIT, 22GV, 48.2%CF) is a physical presence on the blue line. He ranks ninth in the NHL in hits.

Here’s the tentative lineup for the Rangers, per Mollie Walker:

Panarin-Zibanejad-Goodrow
Lafreniere-Chytil-Kakko
Kreider-Trocheck-Vesey
Kravtsov-Brodzinski-Gauthier

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Harpur-Schneider

Philadelphia Flyers (10-14-7)

It hasn’t been a slow news day regarding the Flyers today. Lukas Sedlak has left the team for good and will return home to the Czech Republic, Tony DeAngelo is back in the lineup after a four-game absence for personal reasons, Kieffer Bellows is recalled, Cam Atkinson goes to injured reserve, and Kevin Hayes is a healthy scratch.

Hayes was benched for the entire third period on Thursday. It was the second time this season that Hayes didn’t take a shift for the final period. John Tortorella knows the Flyers have scoring struggles, but he’s looking at the big picture for his team.

“I can’t keep looking by things because we’re worried about scoring. I gotta look at the big picture of what this team is going to be, what the standard is of how we have to play. So that far outweighs losing some offense in a particular game.”

After saving 48/49 shots on Thursday, Carter Hart (9-8-6, 2.76GAA, 91.4%SV) will own the crease tonight. Hart stole the show against the Devils, making 48 saves for the second time this season.

Here’s the tentative lineup for the Flyers:

van Riemsdyk-Frost-Tippett
Bellows-Cates-Konecny
Lycksell-Laughton-Farabee
Deslauriers-Brown-MacEwen

Provorov-Ristolainen
Sanheim-DeAngelo
