The Philadelphia Eagles may have moved to 12-1 on the season in dominating fashion on Sunday, but it certainly came at a cost.
Key players on offense (Lane Johnson and Quez Watkins), defense (Reed Blankenship), and special teams (Arryn Siposs) all exited the game. All but Watkins did not return. Siposs was seen in a walking boot after their 48-22 victory over the Giants and should be expected to miss some time.
It appears that’s all on the long-term injury front.
Reed Blankenship gets good news
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, safety Reed Blankenship will not need to go on IR following his injury as he suffered just a low-grade knee sprain. The injury is considered a “short-term” injury, but the timeline for the undrafted free agent’s return is still a question mark going into Week 15 against the Chicago Bears.
Philadelphia received this news also a day after Lane Johnson, who left the game with an abdomen injury, said that he wasn’t concerned about the injury that had him out for most of the second half.
Blankenship has started the last two games for the Eagles since taking over for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. The Middle Tennessee St. product totaled two tackles in the win on Sunday before having to leave the game.
In four appearances this season, Blankenship has recorded 14 tackles, two passes defended, and an interception.
If Blankenship will not be able to go, the likely candidate to replace him on the roster is K’Von Wallace with free-agent plug-ins like Anthony Harris could also be waiting in the wings.
