Brazil vs South Korea betting preview

Vincent Aboubakar’s late Cameroonian heroics might have halted the Brazilian momentum for a brief moment in time, but make no mistake, they are still absolutely one of the favorites to win it all. They are five-time champions for a reason and have made the knockout stages 9 years in a row, which takes some doing.

South Korea’s road to the knockouts was a little more surprising. They shocked the world by beating Portugal in the 91st minute with a historic goal from Hwang Hee-Chan securing their place in the next stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. If they can upset one footballing giant, who’s to say they can’t upstage another?

There is some momentum swinging in favor of South Korea. Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles are now out for the remainder of the World Cup which will undoubtedly test their depth. The bad news is that this Brazilian team is equipped to deal with any injury, and even a heavily-rotated squad that faced Cameroon was able to hold out for nearly the entire game.

If South Korea can play with the same fearlessness they did against Portugal, then this will at least be interesting. With players like SC Freiburg’s Jeong Wooyeong, who scored in the qualifiers and has done so in the Europa League as well, South Korea possesses enough attacking threats to complement the explosive Son Heung-Min and stun the Brazilians, just like Cameroon did.

We should see a return of most of Brazil’s starters this match, so the task definitely won’t be easy. But this could well be the ‘World Cup of miracles’ given how many upsets we have already been dealt.

Brazil vs South Korea betting pick

South Korea are a confident team and Brazil will not force them inside themselves. I think both teams will score here and as a result, I’ll be backing the ‘over 2.5 goals’ and BTTS markets here. Brazil should come out on top comfortably, but I can’t see South Korea going down without a fight.
