Saudi Arabia vs Mexico

The darlings of the 2022 FIFA World Cup still have a shot at not only getting out of the group stage, but finishing at the top of their group! A victory on Wednesday over Mexico partnered with an Argentina vs Poland tie would see Saudi Arabia do the unthinkable. But firstly, they have to get past Mexico.

Saudi Arabia vs Mexico betting preview

The fact that all four teams can still get out of the group stage is a testament to why we all love the FIFA World Cup, but it will be a tough order for Mexico. This is a must-win scenario for them and they simply have to find the back of the net, something they have been unable to do up to this point.

Mexico, like several other nations this tournament, have the star-power but just can’t seem to bring it all together. A moment of Messi magic last time out might well have knocked the wind from their sails, and now their opponents will absolutely be smelling blood in the water.

With names like Raul Jiminez and Hirving Lozano at their disposal, Mexico should have enough about them to at least challenge Saudi Arabia, but it’s the other end of the pitch that may catch them by surprise.

It would be almost shocking to see Mexico fall short of the knockout stage here, but it’s a very real possibility and Saudi Arabia knows this. Their Manager has won the hearts of fans all over the world with his intense team-talks, and you can bet your bottom dollar his team will be fired up for this one.

If we’ve learned anything this World Cup, it’s not to overlook Saudi Arabia. Salem Al-Dawsari has been amazing for his nation this tournament and that shouldn’t come as a surprise. He scored 7 goals in 13 qualifying games and has already found the goal once this tournament, sending Saudi Arabia to a miraculous victory over Argentina. It wouldn’t be shocking to see him do it again.

This could be an intense encounter. This could be a goal-fest, but it could also be a very tight, low-scoring draw. With that said, there should be away to at least ensure some value in the betting markets.

Saudi Arabia vs Mexico betting pick

I really like Saudi Arabia +1.5 here at -170. It’s a way to get some value out of what could be a nailbiting clash. Mexico are yet to score this tournament and Saudi Arabia are so close to making history that they won’t want to fall short now, not while they control their own destiny.
