Wales vs Iran

The start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup didn’t go swimmingly to plan for Wales, who were lucky to salvage a draw against the USA. Iran fell helplessly to England and lost their goalkeeper to a gut-wrenching injury in the process. Both teams need this win if they are to keep their knockout hopes alive.

Wales vs Iran betting preview

England were on a different level to Iran a few days ago and while Wales should provide an easier opponent, that’s not to say Iran should fair any better. Mehdi Taremi’s brace did cash in our betting tips and I’d expect him to be a focal point of the Iranian attack once again.

It should be worth noting that Wales did struggle to convert early in their World Cup opener, but help is on the way. Joe Allen is now training with the squad and we could even see Kieffer Moore make his return after a strong outing from the bench against the USMNT.

Moore’s presence would be huge here. He scored 2 goals in 6 World Cup qualifying games and has 4 in 15 for Bournemouth. He just gives Wales an extra element of unpredictability up-front as a physical center forward who can absolutely work with the service from players like Gareth Bale.

Wales vs Iran betting pick

The Welsh weren’t exactly convincing in their draw to the USA, but with reinforcements coming and Iran showing that they’re lightyears away from being able to keep up with a team like England, I’d expect Wales to come out swinging here.

This game does have all the makings of a low-scoring game if the inefficiencies continue, but the rust should be taken off now and I’m backing a Wales 2-0 win at +850
