The Philadelphia Phillies are playing with house money.

Following an improbable opening night victory after trailing 5-0 to the Houston Astros, even a 1-1 split on the way back to Philadelphia will exceed the expectations of many, including former Phil Pedro Martinez.

Again, because I can’t believe it myself, the Philadelphia Phillies have a 1-0 lead in the 2022 World Series.

Now, with the Phillies’ true ace pitching tonight, let’s look at some hot wagers and spicy parlays. Go Phils.

Phillies v. Astros: Game 2 – Pitching matchup

Zack Wheeler (Regular Season: 12-7, 2.82 ERA & Postseason: 1-1, 1.78 ERA) v. Frambar Valdez (Regular Season: 17-6, 2.82 ERA & Postseason: 1-0, 1.42 ERA)

Zack Wheeler will look to continue his postseason rampage against an almost entirely unfamiliar lineup. That’s no exaggeration.

Houston Astros hitters have a total of only eleven plate appearances against Wheeler. Only Trey Mancini has recorded a hit against the All-Star, and that was in 2018 as a member of the Baltimore Orioles.

Because we don’t have much historical data, we’ll need to rely on recent performance. In his four playoff starts, Wheeler has recorded an average of 6.25 strikeouts per start.

You can throw Wheeler O 4.5 strikeouts (-138) in a nice little parlay if you believe fortune favors the bold. More on that shortly.

The story is similar for the Astros’ Frambar Valdez. Outside of Brandon Marsh, the Phillies have just 25-lifetime plate appearances against the righty.

Although Valdez has shut down opposing left-handing hitting, ten of the eleven home runs he surrounded in 2022 came against right-handed batters. I hope you know where I’m going with this.

I wouldn’t blame you for spreading some home-run love on the stable of Phillies’ righties. You can get Rhys Hoskins at +480 and Alec Bohm at +830. I will be hitting both of them.

Best Books and Better Bets

We’re going to run it back with the money line. The best bets I’ve had all Postseason have been getting the Phillies outright while they’re trailing.

If the Phillies start slow and you can get anything better than +120, the current ML, I would jump all over it. I did this last night:

Props and Parlays

Here’s my Righteous Righty Parlay. You’re asking for four different outcomes, which makes me nervous, but if this Phillies offense turns on, all you need is a hit a piece from this group below.

Zack Wheeler O/4.5 Strikeouts-138
Alec Bohm – 1x Hit -195
Jean Segura – 1x Hit-175
Rhys Hoskins – 1x Hit-170

$10 wins you $46, and honestly, it’s just got that winning vibe to it.
