The City of Philadelphia is in a state of euphoria right now thanks to the postseason surge of its beloved Phillies, while the Eagles are resting candidly, undefeated, and on a bye week. The NFL circus rolls on, however, and Bears vs Patriots headlines Monday Night Football this week.

Bears vs Patriots Game preview

This game feels like a total mismatch. The Chicago offense is putrid, as evidenced by a 7-point showing in last week’s defeat to the similarly dysfunctional Commanders. They still have the second-most efficient rushing offense in the NFL, but it’s proving to be irrelevant as a depleted receiving corps, and a struggling young quarterback undo all of David Montgomery’s decimating work on the ground.

On the other side of the field, the New England Patriots have found a spark in Bailey Zappe and whether or not he starts, a QB controversy will raise all ships, like a rising tide. Zappe should get the start, in my opinion. He’s completed 72.9% of his passes so far and has a 4/1 TD/INT ratio. You don’t need a PFF subscription or a deep analytical dive to see that he’s clearly the hotter hand right now, and his effort against Cleveland was nothing short of excellent.

If Zappe does draw the start, I don’t think the Bears defense is going to be able to stop the Pats enough to give the Chicago backfield (because that’s all the offense is right now), much of a chance to keep pace. They’re already allowing 50% of third-down attempts to move the chains, and I don’t think that a date with the Patriots is going to hep change that.

The Pats have improved drastically in the defensive department over the last few weeks, only adding to the projected struggles for the Bears.

Bears vs Patriots Betting pick

This one’s easy. Sure, 8 points is a large spread, but the Patriots at home and will be inspired following their big win over the Browns. Lay the points and back the Pats, regardless of who starts at quarterback.
