The Philadelphia Phillies stole Game 1 in Atlanta and it’s back to the Cobb County for another game that astonishingly will take place during office hours.
If you’re a Braves fan, you cannot go into Philadelphia down 0-2. That would be a disaster.
Well, the Atlanta Braves have enough.
If you’re a Braves fan, you don’t need this as much as the Philadelphia Phillies. You have things like Creature Comforts Tropicalia, the Georgia Bulldogs, and Sandy Springs. Philadelphia has Wawa, and Villanova; give them a break.
If you know a Braves fans, please spread my message.
I’m giving away bets, the least they could do is give the Phillies another win before returning to the City of Brotherly Love. The South is supposed to be nice, right? Bless your hearts, Atlanta.
National League National League Division Series, Game 2 – Philadelphia Phillies @ Atlanta Braves
Truist Park, Wednesday, October 12th @ 4:35p
Pitching matchup
Zack Wheeler (12-7, 2.82 ERA) v. Kyle Wright (21-5, 3.19 ERA)
PHILLIES
Zack Wheeler‘s playoff debut was only overshadowed by Aaron Nola‘s follow-up performance but the 32-year-old impressed in St. Louis.
I really like Wheeler at 6+ strikeouts today at +108 on FanDuel Sportsbook. He’s had the Braves number in 2022, with a 2.70 ERA and 11.3 SO/9.
BRAVES
The National League wins leader needs to get the Braves back on track. Kyle Wright‘s been impressive, but his 3.19 ERA has been slightly better than his field-independent ERA of 3.58.
Still, his 0.9 HR/9 spells trouble for the Phillies if they slip back into their old habits. As much as I hate it, Small Ball Philly will need to come through again.
Best Books and Better Bets
Here’s how I fared yesterday. Nothing crazy, I wanted to see how the Phillies bullpen would hold up before unleashing the real cheddar, and despite a victory, the bullpen didn’t look good.
With two aces on the mound, it looks like the u7 runs are getting some love at +100 odds on DraftKings and -102 on Fanduel. That tells me we’re hitting o7 runs.
At -120, that’s $20 to cash out at $36.66. After what we saw from both bullpens yesterday, that’s my lock of the day.
Props and Parlays
Nick Castellanos looked like a wild man in Game 1, and anyone lucky enough to throw him in a prop parlay probably made out nicely. As they say in the jungle, we’re returning to the well, Axl.
Although Castellanos is 0-for-6 lifetime against Wright, we ride the momentum. We then add a a pinch of small-ball spice with Rhys Hoskins, J.T. Realmuto, and Bryce Harper.
The meat of the Phillies lineup is hitting .275 lifetime against Wright, along with four combined homers through 29 total at-bats. Not to mention, not a single one has an OPS under 1.000 against the young man.
Both of Realmuto’s hits off the ‘wrighty’ have even gone for scores, and although we’re staying away from the long ball, we have our DraftKings Small Ball Parlay of the Day.
BET | ODDS |
Nick Castellanos to record a hit | -215 |
Rhys Hoskins to record a hit | -205 |
J.T. Realmuto to record a hit | -250 |
Bryce Harper to record a hit | -225 |
TOTAL | +300 |
That’s $10 to collect $40. I’ve been partial to FanDuel, but today’s Draftkings turn. They’ve been kind to me lately.
Bonus Bet Tracker
The Phillies to win the 2022 World Series looks much better than when I placed the bet.
Odds have moved from 30-to-1 just six days ago to 7.5-to-1 this morning. That’s dramatic, and I know the Phillies have won three straight, but when Vegas stops thinking it’s crazy, so can you.
