Must-play props for Rams vs. 49ers

The Los Angeles Rams are off to a quick 2-1 start, but they do not appear to be the juggernaut that won the Super Bowl last February. That can obviously happen when a team loses such talented players as Von Miller, Andrew Whitworth, and Robert Woods.

Still, this is a team that should not be slept on; there remains too much talent on both sides of the ball for that.

The 49ers, meanwhile, are a team looking to get their season back on track. Starting quarterback Trey Lance has been lost for the season, but former starter, now starting again, Jimmy Garoppolo is here to save the day or at least attempt to.

San Francisco won’t be much of an offensive threat week to week, but their defense is still legit, and they will be a threat in most, if not all, of their remaining games.

Niners/Rams is always an exciting matchup. How can you top that excitement? With these must-play props!

Cooper Kupp | Over Total Receptions

Let’s start with an easy one. The entire Los Angeles Rams’ offense runs through, not starting quarterback Matthew Stafford but star wideout Cooper Kupp.

As is typical, expect Stafford to get the ball to his favorite target early and often tonight as they look to overwhelm their hated division rival.

San Francisco is also the league’s No. 2 rushing defense. While Javon Kinlaw and Arik Armstead are both listed as questionable at the moment but regardless of whether or not they suit up, the Niners’ run defense is still expected to be a tough task to tackle.

Just one more reason to expect the Rams to try and win the game through the air.

Take the over for Cooper Kupps’ receptions for tonight’s game.

George Kittle | Over Total Receiving Yards

George Kittle made his debut last Sunday against the Denver Broncos. While his numbers were underwhelming, that says more about the level of play from the quarterback than Kittle. The Niners’ star tight end will have to go up against Bobby Wagner to truly thrive tonight, but if he is truly healthy, Kittle should have a clear advantage.

For tonight’s game, take the over on George Kittle receiving yards.

Cam Akers | Under Rushing Yards

Remember a few paragraphs when I discussed how difficult this 49ers run defense is? Yeah, back to that. The San Francisco 49ers are only allowing 78.7 rushing yards allowed per game while only allowing 2.8 yards per attempt. Rams’ running back Cam Akers has been improved over the past couple of weeks, but to ask for a 40+ yard night is likely too tall an order.

Hit the Cam Akers under tonight.
