Managing the Phillies won’t go down as one of Joe Girardi’s best stints at the helm but maybe broadcasting games in the booth will.

Joe Girardi’s View From Above

After a very successful 10-year tenure with the New York Yankees, where he was let go following the 2017 ALCS loss to the Astros, many thought Joe Girardi’s arrival in Philly was heaven-sent. His playoff experience and World Series wins made him more than qualified for the job so…why didn’t it work out?

One major reason was his poor decision-making on both sides of the ball in key situations as well as letting guys go too long in other instances where it was unnecessary. Not to mention, he posted a 132-141 record in three seasons which was somehow worse than Gabe Kapler who compiled a 161-163 record in two seasons with the club.

Let me repeat- Two seasons!

Regardless, the past is the past and things have been steadily looking up for him since his departure. His presence on MLB Network, YES Network, and Fox Sports has certainly highlighted his analytical skills and now he’ll be given a shot to broadcast baseball games.

Girardi reportedly joined Marquee Sports to cover the four-game set between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers. The start time for the final game began at 2:20 pm EST today.
