While the wait for the return of Kelly Green jerseys is a grueling one, it will seem a lot easier to handle after today’s announcement. We’ve known for a while that the Eagles will be bringing a new black helmet to go with their black alternate jerseys, giving fans a color rush to be proud of. Today, we finally got to see what that looks like.

I’m a massive fan of this. The glittery effect on the current midnight green helmets is great and adding it to the black helmets is a really slick move. There’s no need to get cute or overdo it. This goes hard. There’s no getting around it.

The black jerseys have always been received well, but being used with midnight green helmets, or even worse, pants (both green and white in years past), just sort of ruined it a bit.

It remains to be seen whether or not the black jerseys will have tints of midnight green on the sleeves like we’ve seen in the past, or whether they too will follow the helmet trend and truly be all-black.

It’s nice to see the Eagles get a uniform shakeup, even if it’s only a subtle one. It’s been a long time coming and this is almost the perfect prelude to what we may see next year with the Kelly Green jerseys coming back into play for the first time since 2010.
