While the NFL Draft may have felt a bit dull when the Eagles drafted Jordan Davis over Kyle Hamilton, Howie Roseman made a bold move when the Eagles were on the clock at 18. The man that many have tried to push out of Philadelphia pulled off a historical move as he traded for WR AJ Brown of the Tennessee Titans.
What makes this move even greater is that the Eagles only gave up the 18th overall pick and the 101st pick for the stud wide receiver. Brown was entering the final year of his contract so a lot was riding on the front office to secure a contract extension which they did in the process. The team gave AJ Brown a 4 Yr extension for $100M with $57M Guaranteed.
It speaks volumes about what they’re trying to do in Philly this season. They’re trying their best to support QB Jalen Hurts. Brown and Hurts, as many know, are very close friends. Hurts was recently seen at Brown’s kid’s birthday party last week as they teased Eagles fans about the possible pairing with their Instagram stories.
Brown has put up 2,995 receiving yards in his first three seasons in the NFL. While crossing the 1,000 mark in two of the three seasons. He’s also tallied 24 touchdowns while averaging 16.2 yards per reception.
Philadelphia has made a splash like this in quite some time. The fact that they landed a top 10 receiver that’s only 24 years old speaks volumes to the mindset that they have going forward. While they are rebuilding, they firmly believe they can absolutely compete with the best of the NFC and maybe the NFL.
