The USMNT Is Going to Qatar

It’s been a long time coming, but the USA has made its way back to the World Cup Finals. They know they’ll be in Qatar this November. Honestly, the feeling of being back in this tournament pulls on the heartstrings of fans. Many fans of soccer in the USA fell in love with the game through watching the national team. For many, the first time they saw the USMNT was at a World Cup.

Qualifying for a Men’s World Cup is important, and the marathon the USMNT just ran will be the last round of qualifying they play until the 2030 World Cup. This is because the USA will host, and automatically be in the 2026 World Cup Finals along with co-hosts Canada and Mexico, so it makes the fact that the USMNT is going to Qatar even more of a big deal!

This USA team suffered a major blow in 2017 by not qualifying for Russia 2018. It set in place a few rebuilding years that saw the next wave of talent come into the team to make it evolve for the better. Add to that the fact the experience these players now have; having qualified for this tournament, which they won’t have to do this next World Cup cycle. The knowledge they have gained in Concacaf qualifying cannot be understated. Now on the world’s biggest stage, these players will compete to do something the USA has never done to win a World Cup!

A Young, Talented, and Hungry Team

This USMNT team is young, talented, and hungry to win. The USMNT is going to Qatar, and they are going there to make a splash. Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, Gio Reyna, Sergino Dest, Jedi Robinson, Brenden Aaronson and many, many other talented young players will lead this squad to Qatar. The USMNT is going to Qatar, as they were able to manage the fourteen Concacaf qualifying games. They came out with 25 points good enough to secure third place and an automatic spot at the 2022 World Cup.

It wasn’t always pretty, but this USMNT team was talented enough and hungry enough to find a way to get results, and credit should go to them for that. This team had to play with the monkey of not qualifying for the previous World Cup on their backs in all of these matches. With that, they showed resilience in games that previous iterations of the USMNT could’ve folded in.

Taking four points from Mexico in two qualifying matches is why the USMNT is going to Qatar! Besting Honduras twice is why the USMNT is going to Qatar! Finding four points against El Salvador is why the USMNT is going to Qatar! Splitting a two-game series with Panama is why the USMNT is going to Qatar! Getting four points over Jamaica is why the USMNT is going to Qatar! Only getting one point out of a possible six against Canada is why the USMNT is going to Qatar! Winning one out of two against Costa Rica is why the USMNT is going to Qatar!

Looking forward, head coach Gregg Berhalter will be tasked with getting this young team who has overcome so much already, ready to take on the best nations in the world! Could we see this USMNT go up against a Messi and Argentina, a Ronaldo and Portugal, an Mbappe and France, a Neymar and Brazil? We’ll have to wait until this coming Friday to find out just who the USA will face in the group stage of Qatar 2022!

World Cup Draw is Up Next!

The USA will find out which group they’ll be in at the upcoming World Cup Finals in Qatar on Friday afternoon! The USMNT will be in pot two, which means they are in the top 16 nations out of the 32 that made the World Cup Finals.

Since there are 32 teams in this World Cup, it means the USA can be in one of the eight groups of four teams. The groups are assigned letters A through H. Will the USA get a favorable group? In the last World Cup Finals the USA was in they were in the dubbed group of death in 2014 when they were paired with Ghana, Portugal, and Germany.

No matter where the USMNT ends up, this group will be ready to fight to make it out of the group stage and go on a run in the knockout rounds. The World Cup draw will take place at noon on Friday; you can watch it on Telemundo or FS1! Exhale USA fans the USMNT is going to Qatar!
