Three very serious reasons why the Eagles will beat the Bucs tonight

The Eagles are preparing for a Thursday night clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and while many are naturally a little cautious about calling for a win, I am not. The Eagles will win this game comfortably and here is why.

Rent free

Tom Brady isn’t the biggest fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. It became very clear in their Super Bowl 52 rematch that Nick Foles and that miraculous team still occupy a ton of land inside the head of one of the best to ever play the game, and it’s crept up on numerous occasions since. During his golf match vs Peyton Manning, a joke was made that caused a monumental nibble, and then there’s the record of avoided handshakes with Foles which is currently undefeated at 2-0.

Tom Brady might have got his revenge in 2019, but is this something that Brady will ever forget? Walking into Philadelphia and seeing the bronze statue of Foles and Pederson might be enough to send him back to that dark dark place…where he’ll probably tear the Eagles defense to shreds.

However, if he loses to the Eagles as a reigning Super Bowl champion with a team that’s bursting with elite talent, it’s only going to further infuriate him. He knows he and his team should easily be able to see off Philadelphia’s challenge. But the idea of losing to that same underdog one more time is one that will likely have haunted Brady’s dreams all week.

The Eagles might not be able to do much right, but living rent free and shithousing wins against teams they really have no business even competing with seems to be a specialty.

Sam Bradford vibes

When you ask an Eagles fan about their favorite ever game, many will say Super Bowl 52. For me, the 2015 victory over the Patriots is a very close second. I don’t know why, but something just felt special about that game. With the team on the rocks at that point and all signs pointing towards the firing of Chip Kelly, the Eagles pulled off the unthinkable and were able to dethrone Tom Brady in his own house. Sam Bradford compiled one of his most impressive performances and the Eagles got the job done in exciting fashion.

I know this is the Bucs and I know Jalen Hurts will never be as good as Sam Bradford (that was a joke before I get an angry DM request from @EverybodyHurts6969), but there does seem to be a similar feel to this matchup. Both teams are trending in very different directions and the Eagles shouldn’t really be in a position to hang with the best.

But they will. Because the legacy of the Sleeves demands it.

The Undertakers

Believe it or not, the Eagles are actually riding a 6-0 TNF streak. It’s the best in the NFL.

Brilliant.

They’re 17-6 on Thursday Night games overall and went undefeated throughout the entire Doug Pederson era. In the same way that the New York Jets will never be able to beat the Eagles when it counts, this streak will still be going strong tomorrow. Tom Brady is not Brock Lesnar.
