Ahead of the Sixers 2021 Media Day, there was one more addition to the team made as the team signed Shaq Harrison to a training camp deal.

With all of the Ben Simmons drama surrounding the start of the Sixers season, there is a bit of news that is a welcome reprieve, thanks to Shaq Harrison. The four-year guard out of Tulsa finds himself en route to Philly just before the start of the season after signing a training camp deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Harrison isn’t likely to make the roster, at least not initially. However, depending on how the roster looks after the eventual Ben Simmons trade, he could find a home on the 15-man roster.

Whether he spends most of his time with the Sixers or the Blue Coats, Shaq Harrison should have an opportunity to make an impression on the team. If he does end up on the team, he’ll have a chance to make an impact as well, especially after Simmons (and whoever else) is moved.

The presence of Harrison in the franchise gives the team the voice of another veteran guard, one with playoff experience. For a team boasting as many young players as the Sixers, that’s a welcome addition.

Harrison has bounced around a bit during his five years in the league, but he may end up finding a home in Philadelphia. Time will tell if Shaq Harrison will be a part of the Sixers’ plans going forward, but he will certainly have the chance to prove himself.
