The Sixers are rumored to be interested in making another addition in free agency. This time, veteran big-man Paul Millsap.

The Sixers may not yet be done in free agency as they may have their eyes set on a former four-time All-Star. According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, the Sixers are one of six teams interested in the former Denver Nugget, Paul Millsap.

The Sixers are going up against some fierce competition for Millsap’s services, namely the Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets. The team will likely have to make quite the pitch to convince Millsap, and that should absolutely be a priority at this moment.

While Millsap is unlikely to ever be an All-Star again, he’s proved to still be a valuable player, especially for a contending team. Millsap averaged 11.8 points and 6.1 rebounds during his Nuggets career. He also shot splits of 47.8/37.1/73.8 while defending at a solid level.

Millsap is capable of playing both power forward and center, two positions that the Sixers could still use help at. While Georges Niang was a solid addition, he’s not at Millsap’s level. Andre Drummond, meanwhile, is arguably a better player, but Millsap is the more valuable player as he can stretch the floor and is more versatile defensively.

There’s not much left in the free-agent pool, but Paul Millsap is a solid name and could be a real contributor as the Sixers attempt to redeem themselves after last season’s pathetic postseason performance. Daryl Morey should pull out all the stops for Millsap, even if it means using up the remainder of the Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception.
