The Philadelphia Eagles announced a minor roster move on Thursday morning, waiving DB Shakial Taylor.

Taylor signed with the Eagles back in February after he spent the 2020 season watching from the sidelines, having opted out due to COVID-related reasons. The New York Giants parted ways with him after the season closed and the Eagles pounced on a DB who entered the league in 2019 and worked under Jonathan Gannon.

As a UDFA, he appeared for 5 games in Indianapolis as a rookie, logging 7 tackles and a pass defense. He was brought in to fill some depth needs when the position was a down to its bare bones. Since then, the Eagles have acquired Steven Nelson and drafted Zech McPhearson. They still have a young and unproven CB room beneath the starters, but at this stage and without a strong training camp performance to convince coaches otherwise, he was surplus to requirement.
