Training Camp has been underway for less than 24-hours and already we have come COVID-related problems. On Wednesday morning, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that they have placed three players on the COVID-19/reserve list.

This is essentially a designation similar to contact tracing that the NFL implemented last year, meaning that they don’t necessarily have the virus, but may have been in contact with someone that has. For them to return to practice with their team, they must undergo the following:

  • Submit a negative test within 24 hours of the first negative test
  • A closer eye in case symptoms emerge
  • Eight consecutive days of virus testing with a regular schedule after.

Newly signed Safety, Andrew Adams, is probably the big name to not here. He’s all but guaranteed a starting role in 2021, but Training Camp is still important as he’ll need to build up a rapport with his new teammates, coaches, and get to grips with the new scheme.

Alex Singleton is in a relatively similar spot too given that the Eagles have an entirely new coaching staff and defensive playbook this year.

The Eagles would then go on to announce another trio of moves:

Rodney McLeod will predictably start the Summer on the PUP list after rehabbing an ACL injury, while the team are taking obvious caution with second-round pick, Landon Dickerson. It’s a little concerning that versatile tackle, Le’Raven Clark is also on this list since he hasn’t even played a snap for the Eagles yet, but it does open up the door for players like Jack Driscoll to potentially capitalize on snaps with higher-ranked groups.

What can be taken away as an astounding positive is that Brandon Brooks is at camp and not placed on the PUP list. After rehabbing an Achilles tear for the second consecutive offseason, it would hardly have been surprising to see the team gradually edge him back into action. Instead, he’s raring to go like the human Cyborg he is.

The first team practice takes place this meaning and we’ll have everything you need to know from the NovaCare Complex coming to you later today, along with quotes from the coaches when they meet the media. Make sure you stay locked in, and follow our Twitter: @PhiladelphiaSN.
