This Sixers burst onto the seen to an early ten-point lead against the Wizards. The game looked like it was quickly getting out of hand, at least until he was taken out of the game with multiple highly questionable fouls. With Embiid out, the question became, “Who will the team turn to?” That question was quickly answered by Tobias Harris, who went off for 28 points in the first half. The Sixers needed a lift, and Tobias Harris rose to the occasion.

Harris had previously struggled against the Wizards averaging only 14 points, and struggled shooting from the field. This time was different, though, for the Sixers star. He came to play and show just how important he is to this Sixers team.

The Sixers went blow for blow against the Wizards in the first half and were even trailing going into the break by one. It was in the second half, when Joel Embiid returned, that Philly was truly able to show the difference between the two squads. Foul trouble aside, it was a great game for the Sixers’ star big-man as he finished with 30 points in just 30 minutes. Embiid finished the game with a +/- of 20, showing, had he not be held back by the officiating, that this game would likely not be as close as it was.

While there was more excitement than there likely should’ve been, when the last buzzer sounded, the Sixers held the lead, which is, of course, all that matters. The team will be off until Wednesday when they face off against the Wizards for Game Two of the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

The work isn’t over yet, but the Philadelphia 76ers started this series off on the right foot and are on their way to reaching the second round.
