Could there possibly be a more fitting way for this Eagles team to end the season?

The Eagles will be without nine players for Sunday’s finale against Washington, although that number is technically ten if we count Jalen Mills recently be playing placed on the COVID-19/reserve list.

DeSean Jackson’s return to the offense lasted all of one game while the veteran continues to battle injury setbacks. This at least keeps the door open for first-round pick Jalen Reagor to see significant snaps.

Derek Barnett and Fletcher Cox will also miss the week 17 matchup with Washington. Barnett missed last week’s loss while Cox was pulled shortly into the affair. It doesn’t make sense playing guys who are less than 100% if there really is nothing to play for outside of pride.

Losing Jordan Mailata to concussion is a real stinger though. The former seventh-round pick has easily been one of the brightest players to grace the field this season and his absence means that the o-line now fields its 15th combination this season. You simply couldn’t write it if you tried.

With Dallas Goedert and Richard Rodgers down, the Eagles are down to just one tight end in Zach Ertz. That would normally impact the running game, but Miles Sanders is also down with a knee injury. There really won’t be much in the way of help for Jalen Hurts tomorrow…

This game is shaping up to be an absolute mess. The Eagles have lost key players in every single area of the offense (except QB) and the defensive issues aren’t exactly invisible either.

It’s time to go draft pick hunting!
