The Eagles have released their second injury report of the week ahead of Sunday’s showdown against the Arizona Cardinals and believe it or not, there were positives to take away.

Only two players failed to participate today and one of them (Jack Driscoll) has a strong MCL sprain. Doug Pederson said Avonte Maddox would ‘miss some time’ after taking an early exit on Sunday.

Grayland Arnold was upgraded to limited which has to be seen as a positive. After losing Rodney McLeod to a torn ACL, the practice squad promotee could well be in line for an expanded role on defense. He’s only made 4 appearances thus far, all of which have seen solely special teams duties, but there is a chance that changes with Jalen Mills potentially having to play corner.

Speaking of Mills, Darius Slay was limited again with a concussion, which doesn’t bode too well for the idea of him playing Sunday. If there’s ever a game where the Eagles need their shutdown corner, it’s against DeAndre Hopkins. Former Panthers and Bills CB Kevon Seymour was called into action last week and could well face a combo of Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald. Michael Jacquet was also limited and in a worst-case scenario, the ‘positionless defense’ is going to need every last drop of versatility from its remaining secondary assets.

Malik Jackson is also in concussion which means UDFA Raequan Williams could see another opportunity as a rotational DT.

Linebacker depth has been ravaged by injury and T.J Edwards joins rookie Shaun Bradley on the injury report. Rookie LB Joe Bachie would have to step up to the plate if either of these players are down on Sunday, given that Davion Taylor is already out. Alex Singleton and Duke Riley will hold the fort for the most part, but some extra DB help or the support of Bachie could be key.

Fletcher Cox and Rudy Ford joined Josh Sweat on the field today as full participants which is a huge sigh of relief. Sweat and Cox have been outstanding over these last few weeks and they’ll play a huge part in containing Kyler Murray.

The final injury report will be released tomorrow, stay locked in for more!
